Introducing the BELTON Upright Piano

The BELTON piano at Mirai Music Studio was named by a person named Leonid Kreutzer. When you open the lid, you will see a lion logo and his name engraved.Leonid Kreutzer was a Russian-born pianist and conductor who was active in Germany and Japan. He is also famous for conducting Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, which was self-composed and self-performed. He first came to Japan in 1931. After returning to Japan, he taught as a professor at the Tokyo Music School (now Tokyo University of the Arts) until his death. Many of his students are still active musicians both in Japan and abroad.

BELTON

BELTON

The Belton piano named by him is a domestic piano manufactured after the war at Fuji Musical Instruments Manufacturing (Belton Piano Research Institute) in Hamamatsu, under the guidance of Mr. Seijiro Takusan, a prominent figure in the piano tuning world. It is a carefully manufactured piano down to the smallest detail, and just like its name "Belton," it produces a clear, bell-like sound. The keyboard material is ivory. When you play it, your fingers sink deeply into the keys as if being drawn in. The deep and solemn touch of the keys may feel slightly heavier compared to modern pianos.

This Belton piano was dormant for decades, gathering dust in a private home, until the studio manager acquired it through an acquaintance and restored it to playable condition through partial overhaul. Most of the parts, such as the strings, felt, and keys, can now be used as they were then.
